Pink
Loudspeakers - IBC Drainpipes may be designed to carry water, but at
our stand at the International Broadcasting
Convention we demonstrated that they can also produce an open and natural
sound. Wave Science
Technology provides strategic consultancy, project management and
technical consultancy services. We don't sell loudspeakers (!), but we built
these for the show to demonstrate a creative listening experience. |

These loudspeakers are
designed to create an omni-directional sound field for lower and
mid-frequencies, so that sound is reflected off walls and ceilings to give
directional cues to the listener's brain. This aspect, and other features of
the design, reduces the classic 'loudspeaker box' sound that we all hear
everyday and recognise as not being 'the real musician in the room'.
But,
if you are looking for loudspeakers for your outdoor life, then they wouldn't
work well in the Hertfordshire field where they were photographed - no walls or
ceiling!
We
have built these loudspeakers for the show, to a design by
Siegfried Linkwitz.
High Definition Streaming At IBC 2008, we played back music streamed from a
fileserver with high definition 96k/24bit music recordings (better than CD
quality) including tracks by AIX Records. We
used a Netgear
NV+ Network Attached Storage fileserver streaming to a
Logitech
Transporter (part of the Squeezebox range).
Please get in touch
if you'd like any further details or to arrange a meeting. We'll be happy to
help.
We look forward to
seeing you at IBC 2009.
